Maitland Basketball is excited to announce a series of player and coach development clinics with Internationally renowned coach Rob Beveridge. Bevo is an NBL Champion (2010) and World Champion (2003) coach with decades of experience in developing players and programs. This is a fantastic opportunity, and from the biography below, you can see that coach Beveridge has an enormous breadth of experience, depth of understanding and a great passion for supporting players and coaches in growing their knowledge of and love for our game.
Places are strictly limited, so register now to avoid missing out. All events are at Maitland Federation Centre, and are open to anyone wanting to improve their playing and coaching.

Coaches are encouraged to attend the player sessions, where you will get to see some of the modules’ content in application.

ROB BEVERIDGE BIOGRAPHY
Rob Beveridge is an internationally recognized Basketball coach with over 26 years professional coaching experience. He played representative basketball at State level for 7 years before studying for a Bachelor of Applied Science in Sports Studies (1992) and a Graduate Diploma in Elite Sports Coaching (1993). He began coaching Junior State teams at 19 and began his career as a professional coach in 1993.
Rob has coached over 300 games in the National Basketball League (NBL) and recently finished with The Illawarra Hawks, where he took them from last place with 6 wins to 3rd place and 17 wins in his first season as Head Coach making the Semi Finals series in the 2015/2016 season. In his second season at the helm, he took the team into the Grand Final series only to lose to his former team The Perth Wildcats.
Most recently, Rob was been appointed as Head Coach of the National Australian Team (Emerging Boomers) that competed at the World University Games winning the Bronze Medal in Naples, Italy.
In 2018, Rob was appointed on a short-term contract as Head Coach of Scotland, where they participated in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This unranked team was not expected to win a single game, however went on to create history with winning 4 games and being the first Scottish team to ever make a semi-final and medal round game in international basketball.
He has also worked as a Consultant Coach for National University in The Philippines for the past 6 years where they won their first National Championship in 60 years. In addition, Rob also has worked for Alaska Aces in the PBA where they reached the Grand Final series in The PBA 4 times.
Before working in the Philippines, Rob was appointed Head Coach for the Shanghai Sharks in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Rob led the team from 8 wins in the previous season to 20 wins and making the playoffs for the first time in many years.
Prior to coaching in China, Rob was the Head Coach of the Perth Wildcats in the National Basketball League (NBL). The team won the National Basketball League (NBL) Championship in 2010 and created history by becoming the most successful NBL team in winning their 5th National Championship. In his 4 years with the Wildcats, the team made the Grand Final on 3 occasions and the semi-final in the 2011 season. Previous to this, Rob coached The West Sydney Razorbacks and The Sydney Spirit in the NBL.
Prior to coaching in the NBL, Rob was the founding Head Coach of the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Basketball Program, a position he held for over 10 years. During this time he developed over 40 of these athletes became professional players; 34 have gone on to be selected into National programs and more than 30 athletes were placed into USA Colleges. Rob also coached for the National Intensive Centre Training Program, designed for 14 to 18-year-old elite players.
Rob’s greatest achievement in coaching was as Head Coach of the Australian Junior Men’s Team which won the 2003 World Junior Championship in Thessaloniki, Greece, setting world records with the highest ever score and winning margin in a GOLD Medal game in International Basketball. In addition, Australia was the only team that handed the USA its only loss for the tournament with a comprehensive 21-point win in the quarter finals.
After winning the World Junior Championship, Rob was appointed as an Assistant Coach with the Australian Senior Men’s Basketball Team (Boomers) for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, where they won a GOLD medal at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 2006 and coached at the World Championship in Japan, 2006. In addition, he was Assistant Coach for Wheelchair Basketball during the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games where Australia won a silver medal.
Other international coaching experience included the Nike Hoop Summit (USA). During his 6 years as Head Coach of the World Select Team at this event, he coached more than 20 players that have gone onto being drafted into the NBA including first round draft picks Nicolas Batum, Enes Kanter, Omri Casspi, Donatus Montiejunis, Serge Ibaka, Nikola Mirotic and Tristan Thompson. He also has coached the following Australian players that have been drafted into the NBA: Andrew Bogut, Patty Mills, Brad Newley, Ben Pepper and Ater Majok.
Rob has also been the Basketball Camp Director at the Nike All Asia Camp (China) for 10 years and provided the opportunity for 60 young elite Australian players to attend and be coached by NBA coaches and players.
His coaching experience has ensured an extensive knowledge of the pathways available from the junior level through to elite international representation, with knowledge of both Australian and overseas systems. As well as been known for building successful programs and player development, Rob is a highly sort after Clinician / presenter where he has presented at clinics all over the world including China, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, New Zealand, Philippines, United Arab Emirates and the USA.
Rob is a 14 time winner of Coach of the Year awards including the WA DSR High Performance Coach of the Year (2010), New South Wales (NSW) Sports Federation Coach of the Year Award (2004); Basketball Australia’s National Junior Male Coach of the Year (2000, 2004, 2005), NSW Basketball Coach of the Year (2000, 2002, 2003, 2007), NSW Basketball U22 Coach of the Year (1992, 1997, 1998) and Penrith Valley Sports Foundation Coach of the Year (2004). Rob was also a finalist for the Australian Sport Industry Coach of the Year Award in 2004.
Rob has been married to Suellen for 24 years and has two son’s Jaydon (21), Noah (14) and a daughter Annie (18).
